Welcome to Bobsite…

Statistics:  If you torture the numbers long enough you can get them to confess to anything. (Humor is a learning tool)

Who is Bob?  I am a Director Emeritus for the Puget Sound Chapter of BetterInvesting. I’m also a firm believer in using the Stock Selection Guide software tool by BetterInvesting to evaluate companies in the stock market.  It works!

–I live in beautiful Seattle and winter in warm Arizona–

Life is drawing without an eraser.

Sadly, it is time to shut down this website.  (See the note below concerning the Annual Report tool)-the wheels are comin’ off the wagon.  It’s been 91 years since my birth and updating the site is becoming a chore.  Sitting in my very comfortable chair with my Kindle is taking precedence.  I acknowledge Better Investing has allowed me to enjoy great profits and great friends.  I especially thank Brad Taylor for the per bono use of his server for the last six or so years.  Thanks Brad.

I now spend half my time in Seattle and half in Arizona.  I have the best of both worlds.  I also have a church in each location.  I consider that similar to wearing both a belt and suspenders.  I figure I’m covered no matter my location–whichever comes first.

What a great life I’ve lived.  Thanks all.  . . . .Bob

The Annual Report analysis tool is no longer functioning.  The data site is now restricting the data and cannot be downloaded.

The Annualize Your Portfolio tool has been updated to version 6.17

A personal word:  For a number of years I have recommended Vanguard as THE place to invest in index funds.  That has changed.  I decided to eat my own cooking and set up an account at Vanguard.  It took a total of over two hours-forty five minutes, five phone calls, and four agents to get it completed–and then invested in the wrong index fund.  The fifth call was to a supervisor who refused to correct the problem.  (That’s the short version of the problem.)  I asked to hear the recording and was told I needed to request and pay for Arbitration before that would be allowed.  I wrote two letters to the CEO and received no response, none.  I cannot recommend Vanguard.  UPDATE:  After 1.5 months I received an email saying the CEO was too busy to respond.  –Bob

Another update:  I suggest Charles Schwab or Fidelity for low cost index funds.  Some are offered at a lower cost than Vanguard.

A new page has been added–Videos.  These videos will be limited to about 6 minutes each–long enough to contain good information but short enough to stave off boredom. Click here to go to the page containing the videos.
